You'll get much more output if you go with HID, plus you can get the HID look without having to get "HID-look" halogen bulbs lol... Plus there are so many inexpensive HID kits out there (~$50) that you wont be saving much buying halogen fogs anyway

stlgrym3 - An HID kit will definitely provide you with a lot more light than any halogen bulb. The 2006-2010 Lexus IS uses 9006 bulbs for the fog lights meaning you will need a 9006 HID kit. The 2011+ uses H11 bulbs for the fogs so you will need an H11 HID kit.

You do want to make sure that the ballasts in the HID kit are low draw and can accommodate the drop in voltage that occurs when your vehicle is starting (assuming your lights turn on when your vehicle is starting). If the ballasts are not low draw I would suggest using a relay harness to prevent any damage to your OEM wiring. The ballasts used in our Xtreme HID kit are rated at 9-32V so they can accommodate the power drop that occurs when you start your vehicle. This means that you will not have any issues such as one light not igniting when your vehicle is starting.

My car is still under Lexus warranty, I was planning to install HID kits for my low/high beam and fog lamps. The Lexus told me they don’t install after market HID or any kind , but that won’t void my warranty either. But if there is a corrosion or short-circuits with the kits and if that take out lets say my ECU/CPU unit , that would not be covered under warranty anymore.
Now I am scared, so my question is, is there any reported incident of short circuit with aftermarket HID installed ? I would like to know if there is any chance of aftermath i need to be aware of for the risk of installing a aftermarket HID kits to the car and what should i do to prevent it ? Thank you

Hey,
Thank you for your kind words.
As per your questions:
1) I would not suggest upgrading your high beams with an HID kit for several reasons:
- HID bulbs go through a warm up period when first turned on. If you had them installed in your high beams and required a quick burst of light your HID high beams would not be very functional.
- It is strenuous on the components to be turned on/off repeatedly ie: flashing someone.
2) XenonDepot HID kits use low draw ballasts that have proper EMI filters to prevent any sort of damage or interference with your vehicle's electronics. For your piece of mind, we have been selling high quality HID kits since 2001 and have been a trusted supporting vendor on this forum since 2004.
There have been people on this board that have posted interference with radio and /or power steering after installing a low grade HID kit however definitely not with our products. Did you have any questions about selecting fitments and/or colour temperature?

Thank you for the High beam info ,it make sense and i didnt thought about it before. So yeah I talked to the Lexus as well as the UTAH Dept of Public safety and with the State trooper and decided i will install a 6000K light on my car.
I was going to call XenoDepot for detail pricing and more. The KBCARSTUFF.com is giving some problem so i cant figure out the actual price. So ill order HID kits for my Low beam and Fog lamps. But I want to change my high beam halogen bulbs too cause I dont like the yellow shades on it. I want some thing more bright and clear, and also I was hoping to get some LEDs for my daytime running light. Right now I am considering buying this one - http://www.vaistech.com/products/vline/vline.php
So I would really appreciate if you could help me with these stuff.
