Headlamp Conversion

Has anyone tried converting an OEM hid kit to a non HID headlight for an 2nd Gen GS. I want to change my headlamps which use D2R bulb to a 9006 headlamp.

I don't see the benefit of going to what is not really an HID bulb verses and OEM HID setup that is meant for the output.

Well the benefit is that the headlamps are cheaper to replace and most venders are selling headlamps for non HID 2nd Gen GS's. I was wondering if it would be easy to just change the harness out or is it more complicated than that because of the output?
