1996 ES300 - Display bulbs behind climate control
Can those of you who have changed the bulbs behind the climate control/radio on an 92-96 ES300 kindly post a link of where you got the bulbs. Also looking for dark blue boots & a link for that.
I've been beating my head against the wall looking on CL. Mcminone.com doesn't find them in a search on their site, neither does topbulb.com, bulbs.com or sunraylighting.com. The only thing I continuously find on CL is T1-1/4 WT Blue Boot, but no valid link is working for me.
I even went to Toyota & Lexus Monday and neither knew what the hell I was talking about. Of course they both will sell me a new climate control, but that doesn't solve anything.
Thanks

Do you know what type of bulbs they are? or are you asking how to replace them? Call the dealer and ask them if they know the Climate control bulb name/number, In my Gs300 94 cluster gauge I think there t5 bulbs (also known as 74 bulbs). But I have yet to open my climate control but I think there t4 bulbs (Possibly what your talking about when you said t1-t1/4) , Ask a guy named Deknick on the forums (He knows alot about lighting) , Heres a link to a t4 bulb http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-T3-T4-T5-Ne...QQcmdZViewItem

I actually sucked it up and went back to Toyota (Lexus dealer also 200 yards away that was no help ) and gave Toyota part # 84999-60440 that I found on a tread here. Only cause I knew what he had fit (after a cross reference) did I buy them for $10.95/ea - 3 needed behind climate control.
$30 is no big deal, but I wanted to find a way to minimize this cost to get 8 for behind instrument cluster. Per another tread here I found this: Replacement Bulbs: 12V 5mm wedge-base # 286 or # 24 or # 74. I then called Sunray Lighting, info also provided at that tread, to find out they are now Candela in Pasadena, CA (ph. 800-922-9226).
Cost was virtually nothing compared to $10.95/ea @ the dealer → #74 0.285/ea, #24 1.134/ea, #286 .585/ea. They are sold in lots of 10 and for $20.04 I got 30 bulbs lined up (UPS freight additional at approx. $7-10 to NY). Life span not that great: #74 = 500 hrs, #24 = 200 hours and # 286 = 200 hours so I'm waiting to hear from Candela tomorrow about "long life" bulbs.
Who cares if it's an extra .10 or .25 per bulbs if they're gonna have a 500 or 5000 hour life span. I only want to do this repair once and feel I am doing my due diligence to find the best part. 8/30 Edit → I actually ended up ordering #193 bulbs that are long life (5,000 hours) for the instrument cluster ($0.27 or $0.37, I forget exactly ).
