Thought.. - new Supra and SC430?
I just realized something after looking at concept drawings of the new Supra. Who knows if it will go into production, but whatever..
The SC and the Supra have been closely connected since 1992..
I'm guessing the new Supra will be on the SC430 frame with a V8. All the internet gossip has hinted at a V8 option, so ...before I continue blabbling on..
Has anyone already thought of this?
LOL

for what I've been hearing for the past year or so is that the GS platform was going to be the base of the upcoming IS and SC, which would make sense in the fact that it can take v8s v6s, rwd and awd configurations

You mention the link between the SC and the Supra. I believe that their link will be broken, but the link between Lexus and Toyota brands will continue.
What I see happening is that parent company Toyota is spending a ton of money on R&D for the Lexus LF-A concept. They should be able to take that new platform, sans the V10 and the Lexus badge, and have the new Supra. It will be less luxurious, more sporty, cost less but perform well.
I have no proof of this, but it make sense to me.
