Default Nakamichi Amp Aftermarket Replacement?

Hey CL Members!

I'm looking for some help here. I need a new amp for my car because my Nakamichi amp broke.

Can I use any aftermarket amp to replace the Nakamichi Factory amp?

I asked a customer representative at Best Buy and what they said was that I need new wiring and replace my Nakamichi with new speakers. However, I want to keep my Nakamichi speakers and just replace my broken amp.

Any suggestions?

Keep in mind: the cheapest way is the best way.

Default nakamichi amp.

since the sc nak system is the best oem system ever why would you want to replace it. most of the radio was actually made by pioneer, same with the sprakers. the only nak part of the system was the amp. everything else is pioneer quality........................................................................................the only reason the nak amps ever go bad is if you let water build uo in the right quarterpanel which fries the amp. i would suggest buying a working used amp. they sell for around 250.00 used which is 1/10th of the original 2300.00 list price when they were new.why replace such a high quality amp. if you want more power it will blow the matched original speakers. that is why best buy said you needed new speakers..........................................................i believe the original nak systems will be highly sought after equipment in the years to come when the car collectors will be restoring all the sc cars back to original and a working sc nak amp will probably be worth 2300.00 again. so buy it now while only 250.00. the price of a working nak amp is only going up from now on.

The primary reason I want to replace the Nakamichi amp is because it costed too much to replace. For a amp that is only 280 watts its pretty expensive.

I don't see any Nakamichi amps for sale on ebay. Where do I get another amp? I don't really trust the CL classified, unless I know the person personality.

I'm going to attempt to repair the amp myself before I do any damage to my bank account.

So what your saying is that the only amp that can replace the Nakamichi System in my car is only the Nakamichi amp?

go here man http://www.purecaraudio.com/subcatmf...200&1=222&2=-1

when the car collectors will be restoring all the sc

I really doubt if the SC is sought after as a collectors car. Collector cars usually do not have a lot of electronics wich break and inn the future are hard as hell to fing an original. The XK8 has a better chance of being a collector item.

CONTINUOUS tapping noise coming from all speakers! I attepted to fix but cleaning all wiring to make sure there was no corrosion in the wires. I even took the amp out and clean the whole amp inside out and that didn't seem to work.

I doubt those Nakamichi amps plugs right in..Lexus has special plugs for Nakamichi amp so would'nt be compadible to anything else. Any suggestions??

If you search for "Nak Hack", you'll see lots of info on what each wire on each connector controls. This was done by "933005sp", now posted at: http://jtj.tocci.com/Lexus.htm.

Armed with that info, you or a car stereo shop can then get almost any after-market amp to work by splicing into the wires right before each connector.
