Default Aftermarket amp and speakers helpp!!!

I want to upgrade my speakers to aftermarket speakers and amplify them with an aftermarket amp. My problem is the factory amplifier. If the speaker wires are going straight to my amp would i need a line out converter for the rcas? I want to keep the factory head unit. ive also seen bypassing the factory amp. what is the reasoning for that?. is that what i need to do? do i need a wiring harness? im confused and have been searching the forum but it hasnt really helped. Can someone help me out please. Thank you

i'd suggest an audio control piece over a simple line convertor.. they increase signal voltage up to 8volts so u can keep amp gains down..less distortion, cleaner signal.. the LCQ-1 (the 1 i own) even has an eq built in... awesome for the limited eq settings in the oem head units.. in this set up u can either keep the factory amp (what i suggest) an run the processors after the amp .. then thru the processor to your after market amp an out to your speakers... or you can take the input from the oem h/u directly into the processor bypassing the oem amp and go to the aftermarket amp.. but the signal level will a lot lower than keeping the oem amp..also any processing in the the oem amp will be lost (mine has dolby thx that i'd hate to lose)..

Theres better signal processor than audio control. i find that audio control can be a bit noisy. look into the jl clean sweep, audison bit one or even the jbl one.
