Sony XDP-PK1000 Digital Link Sound System?
Anyone give this system a try? or heard anything positive about it? I'm looking to add a sub while at the same time improving the sound of my OEM speakers. i was looking at the JBL MS-8, but thought this might be a good option since it comes with a 12" sub, or are there any other DSP that come with a sub woofer? I think the Helix DSP comes with one to. Also, i heard that some new stuff is coming out in September...

Sony
JT,
I don't mean to discourage you but still wanted to share my experience with Sony - their products are good and their TVs and video cameras are excellent but when it comes to audio - not so.
Several years ago, I did quite a bit of research and bought a Sony 7.1 receiver - all the specs looked excellent - 90W RMS X 7 and THD in the range of 0.07% - impressive!
However, after hearing from 2 friends about Harman Kardon, I bought their 7.1 receiver - AVR 525 with only 70W RMS X 7.
I tested both of them - right channel out of CD player split into 2 - feeding Sony and HK. One connected to right speaker and the other to the left. And the difference was enormous! My wife immediately remarked HK sounded sweeter.
So - long story short - I'd say that listen to a Sony amplifier/receiver first or better still, compare it with HK, Denon if you can in a local Best Buy and then only decide.
FWIW, I can guarantee that HK will sound better than Sony any day!
BTW - Lexus uses Mark Levinson sound system as an option which is a Harman company.
