Which head unit?
Hey guys!
So Im looking for a new headunit to replace my stock one. I need navigation in it but I want to stay under 500... Any suggestions??
I saw some nice units but when i read about them a lot need an additional part to enable them to have navigation and that part (for Pioneer) is 300 bucks!!! Thanks in advance

there's a reason navi is expensive on good heads.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being "cheap" and getting a standalone gps.
any cheaper deck with all the options you want for your price range will function poorly, will sound horrible, or die in six months (or more likely, all three).

Awhile ago there was a Pioneer D1 used in the classifieds for like $320. Navigation, everything. Its a nice unit. I lost out on that one, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for another used one to pop up. I suggest you do the same.

I recommend the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. I've got the older model, which is almost identical, and it's a very nice radio. You can buy a GPS add-on for it as well. It's got plenty of features, inputs, and it looks great in the SC. Make sure to get the Metra dashi kit for it.
The navigation part is pretty expensive if I'm not mistaken. I just use a Garmin GPS unit since it was much cheaper. Depending on the year of your SC, the shifter on the pre-98 automatic SC's gets in the way of seeing the screen if you have the car in park.
Check out Sonic Electronix and they should have everything you need. Also check to see if Amazon (Not a third party vendor, but Amazon themselves) sells them too.

try any new pioneer or jvc.. the4400 (pioneer ) is awesome...they dont come with nav...BUT plug in your iphone an nav here i come.....on the headunits screen an controllable too.... the major upside is its way cheaper to upgrade nav versions on your phone than to deal w the headunit software... an seeing as most people upgrade phones10x more often than radios u'll always be up to date w features
