I had got a 10w7-ae w/ 750/1 jl amp for a gift and i dont kno what box i would need?
I kno skys the limit, but I'm not to sure just to get enclosed box or a ported box.....and should i get it customed or just a simple small box? i mean i wanna go cheap but with good sound quality. Advice please feel free to post. thanks

Your definately gonna need a ported box with the port facing up and running through your stock 8" subwoofer opening. A sealed box will sound absolutely horrible and you will not get any sound in the cab. The ported way is the way im running mine and i have a 13.5 W7 that gives more than enough sound.

Bandpass and ported setups definitely offer more output, but sealed boxes have the best frequency response.

I would 10w7 in the stock location, using the entire trunk as the enclosure.

wow not to offend anyone but....ported is a horrible way to go specially with a w7, if you want to get spl in your cabin then remove your stock sub and use that as the port to let spl through using the face of the sub to create spl yes, air movement is a bit less since you are not using both sides of the sub to create air surface movement , but in return, you can actually get WAY better control "response" from the sub and hit lower notes to get that ultimate vibration resonance .. .. plus for SQ ported boxes are horrible in that category.
When it really comes down to it.. you should be really specific on what you want to achieve your 750 hd amp is more then enough to power that 10.. technically you shoudl be running a 12w7 with that amp

I have a 12W7 and here is what I did. You aren't gonna go that elaborate but a good look at my box being made. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...with-pics.html

JL Audio actually recommends ported enclosures for their W7's. Are you saying the creator of the speaker is wrong? I ran both sealed and ported, you lose nothing by going ported as long as you have a competent box builder make your box.
