Default Upgrading Subwoofer

I am planning to upgrade my Lexus IS 350 Mark Levinson system with a used JL 12" Subwoofer with a customized enclosure. I only planned to replace the subwoofer and not the internal speakers.. I know I need to add a AMP what do I need JL 500/1? and Cleansweep? I am new to car audio system.

I am also concern about the balance of the audio.. Mark Levinson designed the subwoofer to be balanced with the sound with the other speakers in the car.

Anyone done similar upgrade? What would you recommend I do?

post in the audio section - and try a search, as this has been discussed a few times.

The easiest way to do it is to tap into your speaker wire in one set of the rear speakers, and use the speaker level inputs in your amp.

As far as amping your JL 12", we need more info. What kind of JL 12 is it? W3? W6? is it 2ohm or 4ohm voicecoils? That will determine what kind, and how powerful of an amp you need.

depends if you have a factory head unit or aftermarket.. but lets assume you're using the factory unit.. you'll need a 4 gauge wiring kit if you're going to run a 500/1 jl audio monoblock amp with your 12w6v2. you should also consider a 2 farad(or higher) capacitor.

That's a bit overkill. 8 gauge would be fine if he doesn't plan on upgrading and he definitely does not need a cap.

Thanks..
I will talk to my installer about that.. how much better does the JL 12w6v2 sound better than the ML sub? Today.. I had a chance to listen to some Kicker sub and they suck *** compare to the Lexus ML Sub.. the Kicker was just blowing air.. what I want is clean, quality, tight bass.
