How to get power wires through firewall in SC?
I tried searching and couldn't find much info.
I'm going to be making two runs of power wires off of my battery. One will be a smaller gauge that will run to a distribution block in the center console area to power electronic accessories. The other will be a 4 gauge run to the trunk for amps. Today I was looking around the engine bay and I have no idea where to bring these through the firewall. There isn't much room with the V8 taking up alot of space and even when I get it through I still have to be able to get to it inside the car which seems equally as difficult.
How and where are you guys running your power wires through?

Can't say that I remember doing one, but I'm sure that I have along the way.... I've done probably thousands (literally thousands) of amp installs in all varieties of cars.
I would recommend finding a grommet either on the driver's side or passenger side that already has wires through the firewall and try to get it through there. Worst case scenario, you'll be drilling a sizable hole in the firewall where it is accessible and running the wire through it.
My recommendation is to just run a 2 gauge through the firewall to a distribution block and have your 8 gauge for accessories coming off of that. It will save you the trouble of having to squeeze two wires in the same grommet or hole. Then you can just run your 4 gauge back to the trunk from that. GL!!

In my 97, I had to drill a hole on the drivers side.
I used one of the angle drill adapters with a well oiled unibit. I'm also an installer by trade, and I figured it was just much easier to drill a hole on this one than find a place to go through.

if your car is an auto take a uni-bit and drill a hole next to the brake booster where the clutch master cylinder would go.
if you have a manual car drill a hole under the brake booster in the firewall. it will come into the interior right under the carpet. you wont see a thing.
good luck
