What Sub To Get For My GS? *FREE AIR*
#17
The 15's had more problems than the 12's. There was just too much cone area for the stress the voice coil/motor put on it. The 12 that I used had an aluminum backer on the flat cone. That helped strengthen it as well as made a better connection between the "cone" and the voice coil.
The TC-9 motor is extremely powerful. I bought a pair of TC-2000 top assemblies that had be pushed to over excursion and the voice coils had left a circular imprint in the aluminum cone. Luckily my TC-3000's use titanium cones.

Most TC9 based subs are. Entasi Audio, Stereo Integrity (older Magnum series), Soundsplinter (RL-p series), Elemental Designs (SPV series), Orion (older HCCA series), TC Sounds (TC9, TC-2000 and 10" OEM), Eclipse (not sure what model), Audiopulse (Revo series), etc. Yes, it was and still is a popular design. Hopefully, someone will still use that motor structure now that TC Sounds has gone under.
