In a word: Nope.

1800 watts for $189 is a dead give-away. Its poop, garbage, a 14.5 lb paperweight. Avoid at all costs, take singing lessons, listen to your Ipod with one headphone. You get the idea.

Here's another link to el-crappo becuase yours doesn't work anymore: http://cgi.ebay.com/EARTHQUAKE-900W-...QQcmdZViewItem

What about a JL audio 500/5

An older model Soundstream reference 705

Alpine made some decent 5 channel amps as well.

Also check out a Memphis Belle amp

These are just off the top of my head.

While definately not being top of the line, I purchased a HiFonics Hercules 5ch for my setup. Back in the day HiFonics made some decent stuff. Today......it's still passable. Not for competition, but perfect for clean power on a budget. Prices will vary so do your research.

I believe I was able to find a referb unit on fleabay for roughly $240 shipped about 6 months ago.

The reason why the old stuff was good is because it was actually made by ZED audio. Basically the finest car audio company ever. The new stuff is no longer anything near what the old stuff was.

A little earthquake history-- The A200DHC was one of the strongest monoblocks of it's time and along with all of their other amps it earned them a reputation for having very underrated equipment that far exceeded the ratings..

I don't want to knock earthquake, though I'm not totally familiar with their new stuff, but it could very well be that the amp is waaaaaayyy better than a quick glance would tell--

The specs are good, it's fan cooled, low distortion, -- decent s/n ratio-- Really good damping factor-- >800
They're seriously claiming some good specs on it--

I'd really like to see one bench tested to be honest--

I know I know, it looks like a spaceship-- but maybe you could like hide it or something--

It does look like the legit Earthquake logo, and their old stuff was good believe me--

I also second that on a Memphis Belle, it seems like I've mentioned that a few times regarding this question-- An MTX 5400x also comes to mind--

It looks like we think along the same lines, Earthquake was very very good about 5-10 years ago, I have not kept up to date on their manufacturing processes though lately.

They use to have the best and cheapest $ Dollar $ per watt amp that you could buy

And let's not forget about the Earthquake Magma

If my hunch tells me right though I think Earthquake might still make decent stuff BUT...... They do still have some stuff branded for the flea market sellers.

So they cater to all price points.

I have never known them to be a misleading company at all though.

Everything was good 10 years ago, but now it's all garbage, with the exception of a few brands.

The JL500/5 is gonna be your best bet for a "current" 5 channel amplifier at a good price on ebay. Check out the Helix A500 also. Indoaudio can get you the 5 channel helix.

i checked it out and this would have nbeen my dream amp if it pushed a little bit more to the rear. 25X2 is just not doing it for me. the rear require 60X2 .
i need at least 30-40 for them.

Please understand that rears are just for fill and imaging. Your rears should just be for effect, not music. Your front stage is where you need the power. In addition, cutting out tweeters from the rear stage will help move the stage to the front.

IMO, JL hit the nail on the head with the 500/5 in it's power split; a perfect 5 channel amp. My XTANT 603X achieves with the same front/rear split with attenuation on the rear channels. Those 2 amps are great!
