SC300: JL Audio Sub in the stock location
so I got motivated all of a sudden to post up some pictures of my sub install. It was rather simple -- about $5 in random bolts from lowe's to raise the sub up about .75" to clear the gas tank.
I had a 12" Alpine Type-R in my SC400... too much rattle when it's in the trunk for me.
the gas tank problem:

the grill still fits over it. with a small bit of trimming, it's a perfect fit.
It does sound pretty nice, but I'm decidedly not pushing it with the stock amp -- it's only 40 watts. I can't bring myself to add the weight to the car. Maybe I'll add the amp when I rip out the factory CD changer, radio & antenna setup... that has to be a few lbs.

wow i would throw an amp to that thing quick. underpowing a sub is far worse than over powering it and at 40 watts peak that amp isnt giving the sub anything. even the w0s i think require around 125 if i remember. your sub is going to weigh more than a 150 watt amp would, plus it takes like 100 lbs to add 1/10 of a second on your quarter mile so if thats what you are worrying about...dont, it wont slow you down a bit. depending on how you mount the amp, it wont even add a single pound. i wish i still had my small alpine amp. i would have given it to you just so you dont blow that sub, but i traded it for a tattoo lol. seriously though, save that subs life and get a small amp on it asap.

Well you will get to ditch the factory sub so just try to find something that is about the same deminsions but puts out a higher output. i never had the sub amp in my car, it was gone when i bought it. I think you should be able to get a small Alpine amp to power that sub...btw I never caught what series it was.
