Default Card key low battery message

I've had my smart access key for less than a year and started receiving a low battery warning today. it seems a bit too soon to have a low battery, I thought the card was good for 2.5yrs. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine lasted about a year. The batteries are cheap and easy to replace, but don't expect the dealer to have any.

Mine died in six months. It's going to have a MUCH shorter life than a standard fob for a few reasons:

1 - It uses a thin CR2412 with about half the milliamp hours of the more common and thicker CR2032
2 - It's "always on" to some extent, so that it can be sensed by the keyless entry

I didn't have time to price shop, I grabbed two Panasonics for $7.95 shipped on Amazon.

I have the same problem, but now the car stopped sending the message. Anyway these batteries are more expensive than others and hard to find. I was in california a while ago and I didn't find any place which could provide it!
In my country it is easier to find, but it is more expensive, 14$ if I'm not wrong.

They usually last about a year.
Depending on the dealership, they'll exchange out your batteries for free when you're low (mine does).

Lately there are counterfeit batteries floating around in eBay and even at stores. Make sure to use genuine good name
brand batteries. I experienced a damaged weather station by fake Energizer Lithium battery putting out too much current.

I just got mine a few months ago, so its still good, but before buying it other threads talked about the poor battery life on it, so it seems like it's kind of expected. Especially since it is very thin, and much less power.

just an FYI, but if you keep the smart key card near your cell phone it will kill the battery, and by near I mean within a foot or so of the phone, in the same pocket is a bad idea.

I complained to Lexus about it because I had 2 batteries die within 3 months, and was told it is a known issue that the smart card will not go into standby mode if it is near a smart phone with Bluetooth enabled, apparently the BT operates on a close enough frequency that it tricks the key into thinking it is near the car and keeps it "awake" draining the battery.

I confirmed this as I had my smart card in my phone case, and the battery was dying very quickly. I put it in my wallet and keep it away from the phone now, and going on 15 months without issue.

for smart access keyfob Lexus in particular, do not store near your cell phone TV or metal to avoid battery drains ! battery should last for more than 1 year
