IS convertibles to move to the New RC Coupe platform by 2016
Will Lexus moving the IS to the RC platform mean a V8 convertible?
TorqueNews predicts: "As Lexus adds a new coupe to its line-up, the classy IS 250C and sporty IS 350C convertibles will be retired by 2016. The coming RC 350 and RC 250 will become the new platform for the Lexus IS convertibles. This is Torque News’ prediction of the future of Lexus’ only convertible models."

As a former Audi S5 Cabriolet owner, I would like to see Lexus bite the bullet and put a soft top convertible on the RC. That way, you don't lose so much luggage space like in the G37 Vert or have that whale butt like in the IS Convertible.
Even the new 4 Series hardtop convertible looks high and wonky because of how it has to accommodate all that folding sheetmetal oragami.

I agree, I have never been a fan of the 2IS convertible because of the bulky rear. A lot of high end cars like Aston Martin and Jaguar still use soft tops.
The RC platform should look great as a convertible!

As a former IS-C and SC owner, I have no issue with the large rear and would welcome a convertible hard top on this new platform. When the top is down, the IS-C and SC looked rather impressive. So lets see what the photo-shop folks can come up with.

IS-C has always liked funny to me like the IS top chopped off and a hard top that appears to have been designed by a separate team in a different continent, looks funny when it's up.

I owned 2 SC430s and will agree with you that they looked decent with the top down. IS-C, not so much.
