bumper protection

This is new to me and although it may work, it is very unattractive. I don't know about you, but I couldn't imagine driving around with that thing on my bumper(s).

lol., i see these all the time, mainly city people have this on their cars.. obviously there's a higher rate of bumpber to bumper combat in close quarters like the city.. they do look hideous though but i'm sure it works.. still i think all you need is just to be careful with the front and not hit anyone, with the rear you have no control over who hits you from behind, but let the insurance take care of it..

That's less attractive than... well... scratches on my bumper.
And if it's anything like a car bras of the 80s and 90s, it's likely to cause some scratches of its own.

I guess if you are a city dweller, this would make lots of sense. It is not uncommon in the city to see people park using the bump and feel method. Just makes you cringe to see someone with a circa 70's Buick, Caddy, Lincoln, etc. touch and feel themselves into a parking space.

I've had a car in NYC for 4+ years street park it, and can confirm that "most" of these bumper protectors DO work and work well.
I had the http://www.bumperblocker.com front and back pads on my SLK350 for a few years. They work great, but are not waterproof and therefore degrade over time.
For my new 3is, my front plate was pre installed so the bumper was already drilled: I got the http://www.bumpshox.com XL version. Yes it looks a bit defensive, but it has already saved my bumper a few times where someone parked right to it. (Can take Photos if you want them)
All these other systems than the front plate ones or glue-on are not meant to be driven around with. So for parking only.
