Default Total MVC Fees in NJ

Hey guys, for those in NJ what are your total MVC fees charged by the dealer? Did you transfer your plates? The dealer charged me $300 flat and now is asking for more money...this is in regards to a IS350...

Nj MVC fees are published on their website-go look it up. It's doubtful they screwed with you on the fees as dealers are watched closely by the state. Fees such as the 'doc fee' is not MV related-it's usually dealer added profit . You paid reg fees for the term of the lease or 4 yrs if purchased, a plate fee and a temp reg fee ( the cardboard lic plate) if you needed that.

Sometimes dealers will estimate the fees and square up with you which may be the case . Just ask for MVC receipt and question if different.

Dealers have told me in the past they can't figure out what MVC will charge. That's BS when all the rates are published .

I purchased my car so if it is calculated by 4*$84 registration fee along with the charges that you mentioned...then I am okay with the total charge. But the receipt the dealer showed me has nothing MVC on it so the dealer could be making stuff up...

Check your registration - the amount paid to MVC should be shown. Ask for an itemized invoice from the dealer.

There is also a title fee $60 or $80 depends if you purchase or finance. Again, all on the NJ MVC website .
