Default Lexus Platinum Warranty 2014 IS250

Hi All,

Picking up my IS250 in a few days and I was wondering what a fair price was for the Lexus Platinum extended warranty for the car? I drive high miles so I am looking at one of the 125k mile plans with lower years (4/5 years). I have been looking around but I did not see an exact answer for this.

Also figured it would ask, but is there a good dealer to buy from if my dealer doesn't get down to a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance!

I believe Toyota/Lexus doesn't allow dealers to sell Extended warranty to out of states buyers anymore.

Actually you can still purchase from out of State...there are a few options I would recommend doing some searching on here for names. Here is one for sure...call and you will be surprised by his price:

Jerry Johnson
cell phone (620-664-8844)
jerryj@midwestsuperstore.com

Midwest Toyota
1100 East 30th
Hutchinson, KS 67502

Did you get it from Troy or your dealer? My dealer could't match Troy's price.

Why would you even consider an extended warranty on a Lexus? These cars are the definition of reliability. Last week consumer reports released their three year reliability report. Lexus led the pack at 68 problems per 100 cars, with Mercedes second at 107 and the industry average of 133.

I laughed when the finance manager offered us a bunch of different warranty extensions for many thousands of dollars. I told him this really undermines their reliability value proposition, and if the car turned out to be a problem, we would sell if before the original warranty expires.

To me it seems like the Platinum warranty is worth it...It pretty much covers all the major components except for these:

ITEMS NOT COVERED
Accessory Drive Belts; Batteries; Body Panels; Brake Linings, Pads and Shoes, Rotors and Drums; Bumpers; Carpet; Chrome; Clutch Friction Disc and Pressure Plate; Dash Cover and Pad; Door Trim, Handles, and Fabric; Filters; Fluids; Glass (including Windshields); Headliner; Heating Hoses, Lines and Tubes; Hinges; Hoses; Hybrid Vehicle Battery Pack; Hybrid Vehicle Battery Plug Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Relay Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Supply Battery Assembly; Interior and Exterior Trim Moldings (including but not limited to: Ashtrays, Covers, Cup Holders, and Vents); Lamps (Back-up, Fog Light,
Side Marker, and Turn Signal Light Assemblies); Light Bulbs; Nuts, Bolts, Clips, Retainers, and Fasteners; Paint; Rust and Corrosion Damage; Seat Covers; Sheet Metals; Shiny Metals; Spark Plugs; Structural Framework and Welds; Tires; Vacuum Hoses, Lines and Tubes; Weather Stripping; Wheels and Rims; Windshield Wiper Blades (Rubber component)
I mean, you pay hundreds for broken parts without warranty, so if you are someone who goes to the dealership to get your car maintained, it would be worth it to get the platinum right?

Of course, most of us go to a 3rd party shop for our maintenance.

I got it from my dealer.

In terms of why I got it, I drive 25k-30k miles/year and I plan to keep the car for a while (100k miles+) and I have had issues on Toyota's before that paid for the warranty in one shot. If i don't have any problems 125k miles from now, i'll consider it a mistake.
