Which gear are you downshifting to? 3rd to 2nd? 4th to 3rd?

When I'm lurching? 3 to 2. I don't recall having any problems from 4 to 3.

I have a IS250 NON F Sport with 6 Speed. I can tell you that it does rev-match. And yes I do know what
rev-matching is. The only difference between our cars and stick shift cars is that the stick shift holds the throttle until the driver changes into the new gear. Since our car automatically does it, there is no need for it to hold the throttle. Just a blip is what it needs to find and select the new gear.

My 350 w/ the 8 speed only does the blip thing when in M mode. If I'm in D and use the paddle shifters to downshift the tranny does not blip...which I'm assuming means its just down shifting and not rev-matching right?

I think you're right. Based on the responses from this thread, I tried M mode with Sport+ last night (new car, didn't want to push it too much). I placed the car in M mode before slowing down to exit the highway. I used the lever to downshift and it definitely felt like it blipped the throttle from 8 to 6 (the sudden deceleration seemed to indicate that it skipped 7 as I recall, but I may have pushed it to quickly to notice), then 6 to 5 and so forth. I also noticed, if there is enough vehicle momentum from 3rd to 2nd, the lurch is ever so slight and barely noticeable but still smooth and comfortable. I returned back to the freeway and tried this again on D mode just to confirm. I could definitely feel the lurch when downshifting.

Before I assumed D also rev-matched but it doesn't seem to be the case unless someone knows a foot/brake/lever trick to force it? Come on Lexus give us rev-matching in D!

I'm curious if the same thing happens when placing the car in Full TRAC OFF...

I've been driving my mother's IS350 AWD (Luxury, not F-Sport) quite a bit. It certainly rev-matches if you downshift with the paddles at higher RPM, Sport mode or Standard. The harder you drive it, the better the paddles respond. I always prefer to drive stick, but I could certainly live with an automatic this responsive.
