Curb rash DIY repair, Before & After pics
So some weeks back I made a post showing the bad curb rash I gave to my 3IS. I decided to take action and attempt to repair the damage myself and save the $500 and pick up a bumper repair kit in amazon for $50. It didn't come out perfect by no means, but being this is the first time I've ever tried any body repair work I think it turned out alright. In the spring will have to sand down and fix a few areas where clear coat didn't dry evenly (see far right of 2nd to last pic), but that's it. Anyway, here are some B&A pics.

that's the kit I used. Under sunlight the reflection given off by the new surface is not perfect mirror like it was factory, but close. If you saw the area in front of where the right fog lamp would go in person you could probably tell it will have to be redone in the spring.

it may be possible to get a small 3" buffing pad in a angle drill verses doing it by hand.
you might have to remove the grille to prevent damaging it. but with a little work you should be able to get a glass smooth finish.

WOW i did not know such a kit existed! very cool, but a suggestion for you, its a tough area and will take some elbow grease but if its just the finish not being smooth i would hit it with another coat of clear, in fact 2 coats. then using some 2400 grit paper wet sand the area being careful not to sand the edge. then with some rubbing compound work the area by hand, then finish up with some polishing compound.
