Default What Modifications Can I Do?

My friend asked me if I was going to get an aftermarket exhaust system and intake and I said that I had to check if it voids my warranty. I head certain things like lowering your car can void the warranty. I have a 2014 Lexus IS250 F Sport. The car is nice on its own but the sound is a bit too quiet in my opinion (Not hating on F-Sport Exhaust). Please let me know what voids and doesn't void my warranty.

P.S. It's not a lease. I bought the car.

Springs will void suspension warranty, exhaust kills exhaust warranty, etc. they can't deny a warranty claim to the engine because you installed coilovers. Now if you install an intake and your engine sucks up a foreign object from the intake then yes it will not be covered. If you blow a piston ring then the intake had nothing to do with that so its covered.

If you get Lexus parts it will not void the warranty, F-Sport exhaust, Lexus springs, etc.

I don't want to say to much but you will see a TON of new products at SEMA 2013 this year....bodykits, BBK, exhaust etc...

I've been modding Lexus for jeez, 18 years now and never voided the warranty...

I was looking to either put a GTHaus Meisterschaft or JoeZ PTS exhaust system on it. I noticed you have a 2014 IS F Sport so I was wondering what you were looking to do. My email is sternb818@gmail.com so you can either email me or reply here. Thank you for the help!

Lexon, aimgain, skipper all have body kits coming soon, i think brembo already have a brake kit, greddy and meisterschaft might be the first 2 exhaust.

Lexus will be selling all the TRD parts soon enough and as others have said those will not void your warranty.

Mods will NOT void your warranty

Research and google the "Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act". This is a federal law passed to protect consumer.

Basically, the law states that manufacturer can only void the part of the warranty where your mods caused the damage. To do this, the dealer most prove your mod part caused the damage.

For example, if you lowered your car, and engine no longer starts... the dealer must honor the warranty since springs/coil overs did not cause engine to go bad.

You don't have to stick to F-Sport as someone mentioned. F-Sport is nice since it warranties the mod part so if F-Sport suspension fails, you still have suspension warranty from Lexus.
