Yeah, someone mentioned in another thread about "special ordering". It appears that gone are the days when they would just make cars with all sorts of option combinations and just ship it across the pond to a distribution center. So when you walked into a showroom, you could see a model, place an order if the dealer didn't have one, and it would be shipped from a distribution center. Not from the factory. In a few weeks, not months! Who knows, they may actually still do that. Just not with a new model. This car is so new, the demand hasn't quite synced up with the output. And the economy probably has something to do with it too. No need to have unwanted inventory sitting around. Now if I can just get my hands on my VIR!

The inventory situation is definitely a factor. It is to the point that all manufacturers are building only the best selling configurations and could care less about all of us that would like to configure a car the way we want. It seems that the distribution is directly from the factory anymore with only a few accessories being installed at the distribution ports.
