This article may possibly answer a few questions you may have. Seems that Lexus are not too keen on turbocharged engines, which IMO is GREAT!!

The man sure does make sense and he is definitely right about the premium feel of the current Lexus engine lineup. They are silky smooth, something which I cannot say for the German vehicles apart from possibly Audi.

A new V6 may possibly be on the way, who knows, they might even make that turbocharged engine, hopefully, we will see by next year!

That is great news. Naturally aspirated engine FTW! I am sure Lexus can easily extract another 20 - 25 horsepower from the same 3.5 Liter V6 engine (and wish they had done that for the 3IS).

I have driven the Audi turbo 4 cylinders and they sound terrible and also the Mazda 2.0 Liter turbo engines. Both sound grumpy, buzzy and very un-sporty. The 328i turbo 4 is only marginally better than these other two I have driven.

BMW inline-6s feel better, but there is a very noticeable "hole" in the power from idle to 2000 - 2500 rpm where there is no throttle response.

Based on various sources (see lexusenthusiast.com), the new 2.0L 4cyl turbo engine is slated to debut in late 2014 in the new highly anticipated 2015 compact Lexus CUV, the NX. In N. America, Lexus trademarked NX 200t and NX 300h back in October 2012 so all the signs point to the new engine (" 200t") and CUV. Lexus is playing it down to not spoil the surprise!

Why do you need 20hp more from 3.5? What is that going to bring to the table other than "improved spec sheet"?

I would rather see fuel economy improvement since 3.5 is on the margin of being obsolete when it comes to efficiency.

2.5 V6 just needs to go, actually it should have went five years ago at least. That engine was a disgrace since introduction, late 90s technology.

I guess itd be much easier to make a new engine. Wouldnt mind a 2.5 litre V6 which had about 250hp. Would be adequate.

I heard otherwise, from one of the reps from Lexus at the event I went to. They are planning for a turbo legitimately, he didn't say coming soon but he said its in the works.

The man speaks sense. Naturally aspirated engines are more reliable than turbocharged engines. Hence, lexus is trying its hardest not to make them.

as I said, this is not true... just like he said on same pages how they dont know if they are making NX, while NX is scheduled to appear in few months and start production early next year.

He cant tell you to wait for new engine, that makes no sense if you expected him to do that.

I meant the poster who said they are less reliable! Everyone knows the NX is coming, the engine is a completely different story.
