2014 NCF and EWD posted to TIS
#3
Some interesting points from the NCF:
Base stereo package has 1 speaker in each door, 3 speakers on the dash, and a subwoofer on the rear parcel tray. Seems kind of weak compared to the outgoing 13-speaker base system with 3 in each door and the sub.
IS250 only gets the intake sound generator on F-Sport models, IS350 gets it on all models.
IS250 F-Sport loses vented rear discs and goes to solid discs (2011-13 IS250 F-Sport had the larger vented rear discs from the IS350/ISC).
F-Sport models use the Textar T4146 front brake pads, affectionately known on the forums as "High-dust" pads. Non F-Sport models use the "Low-dust" pads.
IS250 RWD models get taller final drive, moving from 3.91:1 to 3.73:1.
Mark Levinson speakers are (total system) rated for under 100W, so I don't see the amp being rated for any more than that.
18" wheel width and offsets are identical to 2IS, so pending fender clearance, most wheel setups should be relatively direct fit from the 2IS, though the 3IS uses shorter rear tires than the 2IS did. (17" wheels change from 17x8 to 17x7.5).
The rear wheel arches look to be "rolled" from the factory, meaning more wheel clearance without needing to modify things.
From the NCF book (which isn't always to be trusted), it looks like all F-Sport models should be getting the TFT gauge cluster, some people had mentioned/thought perhaps the IS250 in North America may not be getting it.
Curb weight is up 26lbs on IS250 RWD, down 2lbs on IS250 AWD, up 66lbs on IS350 RWD and up 33lbs on IS350 AWD. Hard to know what is changing based on options/features and what is based on chassis from those numbers.
It looks like the 3IS is getting the aero undercovers back that were added to North America models in 2009 and then subsequently removed again for 2010. (They were present on all 2IS models in other markets, excluding AWD models).
A PTC heater element is being added for Canadian models to help heat the air when the vehicle is cold. It's cool that it's finally getting one.
Regular 3IS models are getting water repellent front door window glass, previously added to the IS F for 2013.
The interior lighting is not LED, not even the map lights (which were LED on the 2IS), though the front door inside handles are getting illumination LED's.
I'm sure there are some other cool things in there, but I just skimmed through today.

Okay, I guess I'm back in first grade. What the heck is NCF, EWD, and TIS?!
Also, what are the "aero undercovers" mentioned?

Jeff, thanks for your great find. The 8 speakers for the standard Audio seems to be inferior to the one in the 2IS. I think one can try to sit in an ES to get a rough idea how good/bad it might be as it also comes with 8 speakers.
Being said that, sound acoustic plays a big part in how the sound might come out.

Judging by some of the other design decisions made, I would be very surprised if it sounded better. The 3IS to me looks like an experiment in cost cutting.

This information is not posted to US TIS. There is nothing for any 2014 IS posted yet for the US market.

OK, found it on the home page in the new docs. Lots of information for sure.
