Then you should go into local dealer to argue your wide body theory to them. Come back and let us know what they say.

It doesn't even make economical sense for a car company to make two difference chassis for the same car. Most car companies use the same chassis among numerous models.

The IS350 is $89.99 wider than the 250, not including the gas it takes to go to Costco to get your eyes checked.

I've seen a lot of IS250 with 17s. I never seen a IS350 on 17's. Always on the 18's.

That may contribute to the fact that it make it looks wider. Smaller wheels may give the perception of a smaller chassis to some people.

Here you go, you'll have to take my word for it since you can't see the widebody of the 350, or the badge (which coincidentally I removed anyway) but here are two different sets of 17" wheels on my 350

Well OP, aside from weight changes due to drivetrain and engine differences, you can easily see that... Well, if this theory was a fun Hasbro game, then I sunk your battleship o_o;

Lowered cars makes them look wider too. Also wider tires and/or tires that poke or are more flush with the fenders help make that wide look.
