Default Quick: Can I Re-certify a used IS250?

Hello everybody,

I found a great 2012 IS250 AWD with just 20,000 miles at a local non-Lexus dealership and they are offering a great price.. It's a dealership for a luxury brand. The car only has 15 months of manufacturer's warranty. I'd like to know if it's possible for me to get the car re-certified once it's original warranty expires. I won't be the first owner of the car that's why I'm asking.

This dealer said they'll give me a 3rd party extended warranty for an extra $1,000. I'm not sure if it's worth it to go this route or just wait and re-certify the car through Lexus. I'd probably feel more comfortable re-certifying with Lexus because I don't know much about these 3rd party warranties. Anybody want to chime in on this?

I'll give a Lexus dealership a call in the morning but I'd like to find out tonight so I can pull the trigger.

If you are still in the manufacturers warranty you definitely can still buy a Lexus extended warranty. It will be a lot more than 1000 dollars though. Most likely around 2-3k

Not likely the Lexus dealership can certify, therefore they cannot give the same warranty that comes with CPO cars. The Lexus CPO business model requires dealing with the dealership upon sale. The will gladly sell you a CPO car out of their inventory.

Like I said before you definately can. I work at a dealership and have seen it done. It's once it gets passed the manufacturers warranty is when it gets hard.

What are the important aspects of the Certifed Program that appeal to you?

161 point inspection (all tires match, brakes more than 50% pad depth, all glass/brakes OEM...)
100k - "20K" = 80,000 mile or 36 month Warranty, not going to be $1000
0.9% Lexus Financial loan rate offered periodically...check your region

No reason to get it re-certified. If you worry about something going wrong with the car, get a Lexus VSA (extended warranty) before your 4 years of basic warranty is up.
