sunroof explosion
Hey guys, weird thing happened to me yesterday. I was driving down an inside street at about 40 mph when all of the sudden I hear a loud bang sound like a gunshot. I look in the rear view mirror because I thought something smashed into my rear window. When I looked back there I saw pieces of glass flying behind me and into the street, not from my rear window (it was still intact ). I then slid back the cover to access the sunroof and found out that it was shattered to pieces. When I pulled over to look at it, sure enough there was a gigantic hole. Weird part was that there was no rock or any signs of something striking the glass. Also, the glass bulged outwards as if it blew out from the inside out.
Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of it? What's the best thing to do now? I'm probably thinking going through insurance but I didn't know if it was a recall or something. I might post pictures later. On the mobile website currently.
Thanks!

That is strange. The only experience I've had with something like that is in my house. It was a VERY cold December around 20 degrees and in the middle of the night I too heard what I thought was a gunshot. I went downstairs to investigate and found nothing unusual. Believe me my heart was pumping! I went back to sleep. Upon awakening I went to let my dog out in the back yard to do his business and when I opened the sliding glass window I noticed glass on the wood floor. I look up to see the 8" x 6' window they put above it having blown INWARDS. Only the inside of the double pane window was blown. The only thing I could guess and that of others on Badger & blade forum members is the temperature fluctuations from inside of my house and that of outside made the glass & gas explode. Had to call a glazer to fix that.

The tempered glass windows can fail unexpectedly. Here is another recent discussion. Your insurance should cover it (minus your deductible).

Found this and it's quite interesting and it looks like it happens to almost any vehicle. The lady at the end of the article with her FB post said it happened to her LEXUS ES350 and Lexus didn't cover it.
