Just bought a used 2006 IS 250
I bought a 2006 IS 250 that has 70K miles with no navigation. I have some questions:
1. Can I use full synthetic oil?
2. Can I install an aftermarket HU and amplifiers? HOW?
2a. Will any old AUX cable work or do I need to order a particular one?
3. How can I tell what package this car has?
4. How should I take care of the leather?
Any other advice/tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

1-2a Yes.
3. Does it have the rear shade? What type of rims do your car have? Does it have memory seats?
4. Just use leather conditioner. If you are heavyset expect the leather to stretch, there is nothing you can do about it.

No rear shade. I think I have the premium package. I have heated and vented seats. The rims are 18".

I have the infamous 'start up cam rattle'. The dealer told me it was nothing to worry about, but he did give me a quote of $2K to fix it. Then I come here and I find out it was a TSB. I am not so sure this isn't causing some kind of damage. It doesn't seem very loud but I am kinda bummed about it.

There has been a major recall called VVT cam gear actuator which pertains to this, I got it done 8 months ago.
They basically take apart the engine, ~7 hours of labor hence the $2k. While they are at it, you can change the spark plugs/water pump(if neeed)//alternator(if needed) for parts only, free labour since the engine is already taken apart.

My question at this point is that does anyone think there is chance of engine damage from this? Another small question, what is this small square light that is in the center of the map lights? It's not very bright but is there a way to turn if off?

1. Yes please, it is what it came with from the factory.
2. You can, but with quite a lot of difficulty (trust me)
2a. Not sure, never used the aux input.
3. Post pics of your car (especially the interior). Members here will know.
