Default 2012 IS 350C Carbon Fiber Interior Trim - Project Complete

So I'm going to start off by saying I did not do any of the CF work myself. I am too old to learn a new skill. I did do the removal, dis-assembly, and installation of the parts. The installation took about an hour including re-assembly of the cup holder. The project was to overlay real CF on top of the center console, ashtray, and door trim pieces.

Since My car has that high $$$ (I don't know why they cost so much) blue/gray what looks like hydro-dipped wood trim I did not want to sacrifice them for this project. I managed to source a 2011 center console locally (Dallas) for $100 without the ashtray. The rest of the parts came from Sewell. These were the base black trim pieces and they cost around $80 after the CL discount. I don't have any pics of the center console.

Around the same time I started looking for shops to do the work. I was surprised at how few there were in a city as large as Dallas. I found two places. One in Rockwall I think that does steering wheels and another in Caddo Mills called Southwest Fabrication. The Rockwall place quoted a little higher and SW looked like they had more experience with custom work so I went with them. They quoted me $150 per piece and about a month to do the work while the other place quoted me $900 and I don't remember the time frame. I also had to provide the CF to use. This is because SW does a lot of large structural pieces like engine covers, hoods, and rocket fins and they don't keep the super fine stuff on hand. They did provide me with a supplier that would drop-ship to SW along with a 1-3k overlay CF specification so it was not that big of a deal. FYI if you like what you see I sold them the leftovers so they have material now.

If you're interested try this link and ask for Doug:

They also go by R & D Engineering and make a lot of VW parts.

The project got off to a slow start while they were determining the best way to lay the CF. They provided a lot of pictures of the work while in process. It ended up taking about 6 weeks which I didn't think was too bad. All in all I think I spent about $1000 for parts, material, and labor to get the results below. If you have to buy the center console from a Dealer you will probably spend closer to $1250. Considering the IFS pieces cost around $3000 I don't think it is too bad of a deal.

Someone on here has a all white cf trim inside with white cf wheel, I think that looks good. But on the ISF it was like out of left field since it didnt match with anything else on the car.

OP black CF looks really nice
