rear brake pads are so easy to change, 45 min taking my time. $600 sounds like replacing rotors. You dont need to replace rotors if the are still thick enough.

$600 to do what? Replace the rear brake pads? Hopefully not.

You should always question and understand what you are paying for.
1) Ask what parts are being replaced?
2) Ask what is the cost of each part being replaced? Look online for the same part OEM non OEM and see if the price given is reasonable; If not tell them that you can get the parts for a lot less, so you will bring the parts to the dealer. FYI_ The rear OEM brake pads are less than $70.
3) Ask how long will the actual labor take? If this is a 1 hour job, and it should not be more than that, how can they justify charging $600.

Unless they are replacing front & rear pads & rotors…I do not see how $600 is reasonable.
