Default Realistic MPG number for Chicago city driving?

hey guys sorry I dont mean to start another miles per gallon thread but im planning to get a 2010 lexus is250 AWD this spring and I do 80-90 percent driving in Chicago mostly stop and go traffic. What is a realistic mpg number I can expect. Because ive heard people getting as low as 15mpg sometimes in the city so if this is true that would kinda suck since I was also looking at a infinit g37x that has 330HP and is a rocket ship compared to the is250, so im wondering can this be possible to get that low mpg in the IS250. Thanks guys.

19mpg on my is250 (NYC driving).

I came from an infiniti, and saw numbers in the low 10s. Granted it was the FX but the G doesn't do much better.

The lowest I've ever gotten is 23 mpg. This was pretty much all city/stop and go.

yea im really liking the power of the g but i mean i live in Chicago where i do 90 percent city driving, im def not going to be happy with getting 12-15mpg with the g. MPG isnt the biggest thing to me but since these prices of gas just keep going up ill stick with the IS250 which was my first pick anyways. loving everything ive been hearing about it, just wish it was a little longer looking lol, feels like the back is just pushed in . I dont really care for the passangers in the back because I usually just drive alone or with 1 more person, just how small it looks from the outside towards the back ticks me off a little .

Hybrids make a huge difference in city traffic, consider the CT?

I live in Chicago, work about a mile away. Needless to say, I drive 100% local and every block is a stop sign and I sit at 1 stop light. Warm up the car for about a minute to get the engine lubed up before I start driving. I get about 13mpg. I think I might win the "least mpg".

Looks like you got the pros/cons down. Honestly the main 2 reason I sold the infiniti and replaced it with a 250 was (1) gas mileage, (2) moved into the city so needed a smaller car. The infiniti fun factor is and has plenty of power. However watching the gas gauge quickly go down was a bit depressing. The 250 is a great commuter and if you can get over the lack of power when compared to a 350, then it is also a great choice. My plan is this: stick with the 250 for a few years while still commuting lots but hopefully in the next 2-3 years pick up a new weekend ride where gas efficiency is not a concern.

Gl and keep us posted on your choice!

Get a 350, pretty comparable MPG to 250 even in the city. The 350 and 250 are going to get a lot better MPG than the G37.

I live in chicago. During winters I get around 19-21 due to warming the car up before I drive it anywhere. During summer around 23. Mine's is250. Also don't listen to people saying they're getting 30 mpg in an is350 lol

I get around 16 to 18 mpg city driving on the 350 RWD. According to Lexus specs, 250 AWD has the same mpg ratings as the 350 RWD

The 350 can get 30 mpg on the highway
