Default Snow tires make steering soft?

Just put Blizzack WS70 snow tires on my IS 250 AWD. Had summer tires on before. Steering feels so much softer, looser - more like the Camry I had before buying the IS just a few months ago. Is this normal with snow tires?

winter tires have MUCH thicker treads than summer/all season tires so being softer will be normal. It will be a much softer ride because there is more rubber between you and the ground

Yes it is normal. It depends on what type of summer tire and what type of winter tires you have as well. The rubber is much softer on winter tires, and the tread is much deeper.

^Exactly what Jeff said; rubber on winter tires are made to be softer and the threads blocks more pliable.

Also sidewalls of winter tires are usually not as stiff
