Default called tire rack does this sound right?

Just bought an 06 is350 and it came w an extra set of blizzak tires.225/40/18 and 235/40/18 so stepped down from the stock 255/40/18. When I went to order the 235's he claimed I may have traction control issues due to the smaller size.. does this sound right? Want to be sure before I order as I would prefer the smaller size for winter. Also noticed more inner wear on the tires as well but they are worn through just more on the inside..

Inner is pretty common on these car up front search and you find solution on that. If your doing it for winter the narrow the tire the better the traction. I run 225-45-18 for the past 3 winter not one issues. Since your is an 06 learn the pedal dance to turn traction/vsc off during winter driving.

These are for sure from the rear though not the front..also why would I want to turn off vsc/trac control especially in the winter?

Because it can prevent you from moving at all lol. For instance lets say you need to back out of a parking spot you might not be able to. But with the systems offline you can spin the tires a bit and wiggle out of the spot.

You will see, I would just advise knowing how to disable the trac system.

The sizes you listed above are fine; like was said, the narrower winter tire in actual winter conditions is actually better.

And yes, you will want to learn the "pedal dance" to disable the T/C in actual winter conditions.

That button will turn traction control off until you hit 30mph, then it automatically comes back on. Doing the pedal dance will keep the traction control off until you shut the car down.

Did you see what 235/45-18 rear tires would go for? I've been running this size for over 4k with no traction control issues.

I got the same car, 06 IS350, and ran into troubles with the traction control. Learn to pedal dance! traction control button may even turn the system off until you hit 30 mph but it doesn't fully turn it off. Pretty much if you lose traction, the system turns back on. I spoke to my service rep and they could not find a way to get the system turned off in a more permanent way.

btw, I have 225/40/18 all around on my car.

Update:
I stopped by the dealership to book my cam gear fix and asked about 235's on the rear and they told me not to do it, too much stretch and too much of a drop from 255.. the tires I have are worn all across but definitely more worn on either the inside or outside (I can't remember off hand) so maybe that is attributed to stretching the smaller tire over time? Just passing on some info I got take it fwiw

Your sale rep probly don't know much. I have 225/45 it a small stretch. Tires will wear over time no matter what size you get. Snow tire are made for snow. So when it just pavement it wear even more. Wider tires are traction for pavement not ice and snow when comes to traction. Another note depending on how much you drive you may get 2,3,4 winter season on one set of snow tire.
