Cam gear recall released!
#197
I only have 48K on my '08. Should I just go ahead and change the spark plugs while they are in there? How much is the labor normally for spark plugs?
Is there anything else I should have them do while they are in there?
Thanks

Just got my car back from cam gear, wiper and trunk latch recalls. As others have stated I do not feel anything different in the car or how it feels. My car just hit 60,000 miles so I asked about changing spark plugs as well. I was quoted $155.00 so I went ahead and had the plugs changed.

Did 3 recalls today for my IS350 (2 small ones, 1 major for VVT). Asked about the spark plugs and got them changed for 300$. Talked about it before, mentioned the discount and was told none applies for this change. Also got my car with no gas refill. All this was done at McGrath Lexus of Westmont, IL. In addition asked about the free refill, and was told : "service manager will be tomorrow talk to him". Anyways at least my recalls were made, but I will never bring a car to this lexus dealership...

Thanks for quick answers. I do think i will give them a call tomorrow, but going through this is not a fun part. I felt i was treated on the return like a third class person, but as i know lexus is not a "cheap" type of manufacturer. Maybe GM will do smth, or as i was told "spark plugs" are not involved in the vvt recall. so 170$ for labor...

Does anyone know if a free tank refill is included or thats solely on the dealership? Also, after how many miles should you change your spark plugs? Im currently over 50k & my recall is set for dec 23.

I need everyone's input here as I'm not sure if I should contact the dealerships GM or corporate Lexus...
Took my IS350 into Fort Wayne Lexus on 10/28 at 10am and was told it would be done by Wednesday 10/30. Called on 11/1 and was told that they were short staffed and it wouldn't be done til Wednesday 11/6. They called today and gave me another excuse saying one of their techs went to the hospital and were down to one tech for their entire dealership. (I was told on 11/1 they were down to just 2) they are now telling me my car is not half way done and won't be done until next Wednesday 11/13 at the earliest. This is very concerning as it should only take 6 hours of labor per the book. Even if they worked on it for an hour a day this wouldn't take more then a week but now it's going to be over 2 weeks in the shop for a single 6 hour recall! They did give me a loaner but I feel like there is something being hidden from me and that I'm getting the run around. I have never had an issue with the dealership and have a really good relationship with them. What do u guys think I should do.

My car is currently getting all 3 recalls performed (66,000 miles) and I asked about spark plugs and was told it would be $130 with me providing the parts I had already purchased from sewell. I declined and will just do them myself like I had planned. I saw someone else mention in another thread they were only charged $60 and for that price I would have had them do it.

I was under the impression that the spark plugs could be changed free of labour under a waterpump replacement. That being still under warranty.
I have a set date for the 18th of this month. Also getting rearview and windshield trim replaced - The waterpump still needs to be checked on mine.
and all this comes with me having to do the 60k maintenance. Yay for me!
