Default Non-staggered set up with RWD

Hello,
I own a 2009 IS250 RWD with 6 speed manual. I'm getting to the point were I'm going to need new tires. I dislike the fact with the staggered set up I have no rotation options.
My question is can I go down in tire width so I can rotate tires to opposite corners to extend the life of my tires.
I have the factory 17" rims.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Chris

there not rotatable only way is to unmount the tire and flip the tire around and remount them this way they wear evenly on both side of the tire. I do that every 10k which cost $75

Factory 17" wheels are not staggered. You can run 225/45/17 all around no problems

@aw04lfan,
I wonder if there is a difference in rims between Canadian and US models as I have been told that the rear rims are wider with a different offset. Can any one confirm or deny this?
thanks once again,
Chris

diverchris, If you can remove the wheel from the car the size and offset will be clearly marked on the back.

Update:
I just had my summer tires but on and I got great news all of the rims are the same size. No more staggered set up in the near future

Yes, I did the same with my 2008. Ended up selling the staggered 18" wheels and buying some factory 17s. Currently using 235/45R17 Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires all round - no rubbing problems.

@sktn77a, thank you for your post; glad to hear 235's don't rub

Yup, only 18" OEM rims are different width (8 front, 8.5 rear)

Just got DWS too, loving these tires. I would stick to 225/45/17 for better mpg and more accurate speedometer

Yokohama yk580s are rotational without dismounting the tire. I believe its side to side rotation.

Factory 2IS RWD sizes:

16x7.0" +45mm all around with 205/55R16 (IS250 only, not used in USA, used in Canada for 2006-2010 only)
17x8.0" +45mm all around with 225/45R17 front and 245/45R17 rear (IS250 and IS350)
18x8.0" +45mm front and 18x8.5" +50mm rear with 225/40R18 front and 255/40R18 rear (IS250 and IS350)

I am running 17x8.0" all around with 245/40R17 all around on my RWD IS250 without issue. I enjoy being able to rotate the tires and I like the neutral handling of the car with the square setup. The ECU/programming seems to be the same between cars with the staggered and non-staggered setup. I don't know if Lexus just ignores the difference in rolling diameter or compensates when it detects all 4 wheels spinning at the same RPM for a certain distance, but I haven't noticed any inaccuracy in my speedometer/odometer with the shorter rear tires.
