2007 IS 250 Sudden Power Loss
For the second time in two months, my 2007 IS 250 AWD lost most of its power, and the VSC, check engine, alert, and traction lights went on (25 MPH first time, drove it for 5 minutes, 55 MPH the second, drove it for 30 minutes). Brought the car to the dealership right away, both times. First time, I had it towed because I wasn't sure it would make it having almost NO power at all. First event, dealer said it looked fine and there was NO computer record of the event. This time, dealer is saying the same thing. I'm finding out that there is a recall issue involving these same symptoms but dealer says they can't do anything without on-board computer documentation of the event. From my perspective, the issue also involves the computer, so it's rock-and-a-hard-place time. No proof, no fix. Is it possible that the dealer would turn me away with a major problem like this and say they simply can't fix it? They even said they believe that the incidents happened exactly as I described them. What to do?

Thanks. I'm about to return to the dealership after 3 days -- they wanted to "keep it until it dies it again" (which could be another 2 months at this rate). At least I'll be able to make an intelligent suggestion. It occurs to me, though, that having the symptoms re-occur at the dealership won't really help this thing along any. They'll just see the same set of lights I've seen twice before, with no computer record of what just happened. Arggg... well, thank you again for the carbon build-up tip. I'll see what happens.
