Need Help...IS250 not shifting right
So I changed the oil today without any issues for the first time today, usually get it done at the dealership. After running the engine for a bit, I checked the oil level....everything was fine. I took it on a little test drive and that's when the problems started. After a few minutes of driving, I noticed that on stop on goes, the RPMs would rise but the tires weren't getting power, then all of sudden it would clunk into gear. Thought it was a little weird. It was a smooth shift from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. Then I turned into the neighborhood at about 30 miles an hour and noticed that NO power went to the tires, just an increase in RPM, then it would jerk and change gears. So I went to a back country road with a nice fast SHARP turn....halfway through the turn I gave it some gas....the car REDLINED and I was only going 40 mph. Luckily it caught towards the end of the turn because my tires slipped when it finally shifted. Does anyone know what would cause the IS250 not to shift during a turn or cause the jerking at the stop lights? Please help!

that sound like you tranny is slipping, i hope when you did the oil change you didn't open the transmission bung and did the oil bung or else you just F up that tranny....lol...if you didn't do that then your tranny is slipping which is rather early....luckily your under warranty so bring it in.

The so called drain plug on the IS250 is not a drain plug at all. It is considered to be an overflow plug. When the car is level and you open this plug up no fluid should exit the transmission. If fluid does exit the transmission then it was over the specified fluid amount that should be in there.

i had the same problem and even though under warranty, or perhaps despite being under warranty, the dealer wouldn't recognise the issue as there were no codes to go off of and the dealer couldn't replicate the issue.
some months later the cel went on (along with the vsc and the tc lights) and the dealer pinpointed the problem to the torque converter and transmission solenoid, which were both bad and in need of replacement.
so the dealer replaced (under warranty) both parts, but as they had to tear down the transmission, they also replaced the transmission fluid - rare (!) as it's near next to impossible to do this without specialised equipment. i also paid out of pocket for them to replace the differential oil since they were going to be working on that area.
runs like new now! should note that my car is a 2008 is250 automatic with 50k miles and covered under power train and platinum extended warranties.
