I got a ticket for running a red light once.......it was yellow for all about two seconds. When I looked up all the traffic laws in my state South Carolina, I found out that the yellow light timing in seconds corresponds to the speed limit in that area. Such as 55mph = 5.5 seconds on the yellow 40mph = 4.0 seconds on the yellow and so on. I was in a 55mph area so two seconds was way two short. I address this in court with a video from my phone showing how fast the yellow changes. My ticket was thrown away and the yellow light was fixed within the week. Check your state law on that!

Have you paid yet? Not sure what state you live in, but in WA you just say it wasn't you driving the car and the charges are dropped.
Red light cameras are a racket. Supposedly they are installed to reduce accidents at intersections, but statistics have shown accidents go up at intersections with red light cameras. There is a piece of crap town near me that has them at just about every intersection. If I can't avoid going there, and I get a red light I'm going to make a free right on, I'll count to 20 seconds before I turn. I don't care if someone is behind me honking or not.
