Default antifreeze

I went to refill my windshield washer fluid today and noticed that my coolant looked to be a little low. I couldn't get a good look to see if the container stretched lower down or if there wasn't much coolant left. My car (2006 Is250 awe) has been staying 1/2 on the engine temperature gauge but need to get a closer look.

I bought prestone 50/50 (yellow bottle) just in case, but haven't opened it until i know its okay to use. My car has pink coolant and though the prestone claims its for all colors...i wanted to get someone opinion on this.

I could go to the toyota dealership and get pink, would it have to be flushed out still?

thanks

I would recommend getting Toyota coolant from either a Toyota or Lexus dealership. Keep in mind, the coolant level can fluctuate depending on if the car is hot or cold. As long as the level is in between the "low" and "full" lines, then you are ok. Be sure to check for any external leaks, mainly around the water pump area...

Get the pink Toyota coolant for sure! Don't mix it with the Prestone.

^Agreed! Spend the $20 and get the LONGLIFE coolant from Toyota/Lexus. Return that Prestone!

You can mix coolant but it will lower the life expectancy of both coolant.

Therefore only mix if you plan to flush your coolant soon, otherwise get toyota pink coolant

I believe that there are different pressure ratios with antifreeze. The yellow/green stuff produces higher pressure that can cause your radiator to leak. Buddy of mine put the yellow/green stuff in his VW and that is exactly what happened. Spend the $20 and save yourself the hassle.
