Strange "Check VSC" message during start.
I know this is a subject that has been done, but this seems to be a slightly different variant.
Sometimes, when I start my 2006 IS250, the message "Check VSC" appears on the display *while* the engine is starting. As soon as the engine starts, the message and red triangle disappear.
The car runs perfectly; the yellow slip indicator light comes on and off as expected during power-on and starting; similarly, the yellow CEL light comes on and off as expected during power-on and starting.
I've used an OBD-II system (Techstream) several times, including on the times when the message appeared, and there are *no* error codes related to the engine, chassis, VSC, etc. The only error codes the techstream finds are historical, irrelevant codes (e.g. Air conditioning solar sensor out of range - which is a *normal* code if the car is not in direct sunlight).
Similarly, OBD-II live data shows sensible and believable data from all engine sensors, and as far as I understand the VSC system, all the live data looks legit there.
I've taken the car to an empty lot, and I've "road-tested" the ABS and TRC which work as expected. (No, I'm not going to try and test the VSC).
Any ideas? Is this even a real "error"?I'm beginning to wonder whether the message on the display is erroneous.
I suppose I could take the car to lexus, but I really don't know what they can do, as there are no error codes.
I've checked other stuff like fuel cap (although as a Euro model, I don't think it has a fuel cap sensor, so this shouldn't cause any errors) and can find nothing wrong.

It's not the TPMS though, as my car isn't fitted with the TPMS option.

"Check VSC system" only on startup goes off after.
Hi Guys,
were you able to solve the problem?
I have a 2007 toyota camry 3.5 v6 2grfe a/t
with multi-info display and smart key with vsc.
Is this normal? having same issues as your lexus.
At initial startup "check vsc system" flashes(multi-info display) with red triangle "!" and dings once when I do this start procedure:
1. scroll through(push button switch to the "switch On mode" and wait for the abs, trac and airbag lights to go off..
2. then depress brake pedal,
3.then press the push start again for ENGINE START.
It NEVER flashes anything(warning or dings) when you directly step on the brake pedal then startup the engine..or pop up any warnings or lights when driving around.
Had it scanned and no error codes were found.
but upon reset, it did'nt flash anymore when doing the first procedure,
But it came back after a couple of days of driving.(flashes ONLY once again ON STARTUP and then no more)
also did the zero point calibration reset without any improvements.
Thanks in advance.

disconnect the battery...step on the brake...reconnect the battery and it should reset the ECU. Or go down to AutoZone and buy an OBDII reader so you can check it whenever it throws the code...
