The Rare IS350

The Rare IS350
Was wondering about the ratio of IS250 to IS350
So, in Atlanta, did a search for 2006-2008 IS250 and found 116
Same sedarch for IS350, found 16
Was only looking for a 350 when I looked and never realized the lopsided distribution.
What happens when you run this search near you?

IS350's are more common in states like CA. I'm sure Kurtz or someone knows the exact ratio of IS250 to IS350s produced. The east coast doesn't have nearly as many IS350s.. They are geographically divided too i guess. Same deal with AWD vs RWD. AWD 2IS's are few here in CA, but you'll find plenty the further east you go lol.
For what it's worth, i'm in Socal, If i do a search on autotrader within 50 miles:
IS250 (any year) - 309 Listings
IS350 (any year) - 51 Listings
IS250 & 350 (any year, AWD) - 15 Listings

Where I am, it appears most ISs are AWD IS250 probably because of the weather. After the AWD IS350 came out, the dealerships do not even stock RWD IS350 anymore so I had to go through the trouble of getting one of them to order me a RWD IS350.

I'm in ATL, too. Anyway, when we were shopping for the 350 in the spring, there weren't that many in ATL and only a couple or three with ML. We ended up buying a CPO 07 from Augusta fully loaded.
They actually had 2 on the lot, there, same color and packages. Only difference was one was an 08 with more miles than the 07 we ended up with.
It definitely takes some searching to find the elusive 350, esp if you're picky about color, trim package, etc.

I don't actually know the exact ratio off-hand...
I know back in 07-08 most folks were saying sales were about 4:1 250:350 but in general I've seen anywhere from 10-20% of total sales attributed as 350s.
Checking ratios of cars for sale has 2 flaws, one already mentioned- geographic distribution will vary the ratio... but on top of that, it's not a given that 250 and 350 owners sell their cars in the same proportions either (ie for whatever reasons 250 owners might be less satisfied with their cars and thus a higher % will be offering them for sale at any given time, so it might "look" like there's more 250s based on sales numbers... or vice versa)
I do think the 10-20% figure is probably pretty fair based on a sum of information available, but wouldn't be comfortable nailing it down any more specifically without more detailed data.
The good news for 350 owners should be (this is a guess, so I could be wrong, but it seems to make sense) is that resale will be better on 350s since they're generally significantly harder to find compared to used 250s... (I know when I was looking to buy originally it make no financial sense at all to buy a used one compared to new, but that was only the 3rd year of production, and I was getting a great deal on the new one too)

Central Florida: 350's are rare mostly the 250 crowd with extensive mods, many extremely tacky.
Southern France: I have the only 350 i've seen even when we travel to the big city.
