Anyone change their car speakers?
Anyone do this? I have the non Mark levinsons with backup camera/nav and wanted to upgrade my speakers to DLS or Morel speakers. What do you prefer to do and should i change the amp aswell? Planning to get this with the vaistech non ML kit.

i have the non ml with nav and i changed the 6.5 door speakers and hooked up a 4ch amp to them, while leaving the factory amp to the mids and tweets only. an audiocontrol lc2i works well for that.

I had a non ML non Navi car before. Here is what I had done. I have heard Morel speakers used in sound quality vehicles. They are really good. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...with-pics.html

Just treat it like any other car audio system. Also if you want to save a decent headache, keep the stock amp until it dies. Or try new speakers with the stock amp and if it doesn't make it sound good to you then get a different amp.
In the doors, the tweeter is crossed over by a passive crossover attached to the 3.5 inch midrange.

I am running Hertz HSK 165s in all four doors, run off of Memphis amps. Wish I had the cash for the Milles..... Factory speakers (even in a "premium" sound system setup) are crap compared to a quality aftermarket driver. Many of the replies here are already significantly better than stock. As for the amp, I bypassed mine completely when I installed an aftermarket HU. You can do the amps by simply adding an interface though, which is not terribly hard to do.

LexusMnl - the stock non-ML speakers are acutally Pioneer speakers. I should say, Pioneer makes them.
bigfazolie - I can't remember the Watt rating for non-ML speaekers but that Kicker would be 70 W RMS per channel output and you have around 420 W to throw to an aftermarket subwoofer. IMO if your current setup is not loud enough the kicker would work but the gain would almost be on 0 because too much and you would blow the speakers. Generally, OEM speakers aren't very happy with aftermarket amps. Hopefully someone else can chime in who has acutally done it on the 2IS.
