I think he meant the sun shade he bought from Auto Zone melted... Not the dash itself. I've had cheap sun shades melt myself

Shade made by Lexus on Amazon.com
I am awaiting arrival any day now on a sun shade for my 2002 ES300. I located one on Amazon.com , sold by Lexus , and spoke with a guy who bought one back in 2012 and he said he still has it and it is still doing the job and in great shape.
He said it doesn't have the Lexus logo on it, but has seen the same shade for sale at his Lexus dealership.
Here is the site.....

Can you check out this site on Amazon.com? I just bought one for around $39.00 and wanted to know if it is the same shade that you got from Lexus. If so, I may be returning mine and get one from the dealership...
Thanks. here is the site...

Covercraft gets my vote also.
I hesitated a bit since it was $50, but I'm glad i listened to everyone. Not a huge fan of the flimsy/roll ones.
The covercraft one is nice a rigid, and feels like it'll last. I can see why it costs more than the others. Definitely worth it.

I have this on the GS and need to order one for the IS. It works well, and is as easy and fast as it looks.

Works like a champ, fits perfectly into the windshield.

I also use it since 2012 April .
But it does not stay flat . I have it on a bmw and it stays flat, maybe the design of the lexus windshield is too curvy .
BTW It really reduces heat a lot.

I bought the Covercraft one off of Amazon last year. Fit is perfect and it keeps my car really cool in the summer. I was hesitant at first to pluck down 50 bucks for a sunshade but its worth its value in protecting the dash and from searing my *** on the leather on those hot summer days.

I use none. Although I assume sunshade helps keep interior cooler.
I garage the car. And when parked outside, I try to park with back window facing the harshest sun (western or southern) since side and back windows are tinted with 3M CS35 for plenty of UV protection.

Got this one off Amazon a couple days ago, fits pretty good without the need to flip down the visors. It rolls up, seems to keep the car cool.
