oil in intake manifold when changing spark plugs on IS250
Hello all,
I'm still new on the board, but have always done my own maintenance on cars, including a few engine rebuilds. That said, this is my first Lexus. It is a 2007 IS250. I have the shop manual.
I just got through changing the spark plugs, but noticed that there is a few drops of oil dripping from the intake manifold runners (it had been sitting on some newspapers I spread out overnight).
I only found one other post where a member found the same thing, and a Lexus tech said it was normal & cleaned it out (presumably at the dealership).
I don't see how it would be possible to take the intake manifold further apart to clean it out. I would think this could be leftover from the PCV valve or something, but not sure.

Just a follow up:
just got everything cleaned, back together, and doubled checked. It doesn't appear that there was very much oil at all. I had to tip the intake a few degrees to disconnect something when taking it out (not much), so maybe that's what let the small amount of oil move around, but again I'm not sure.
I got the manifold cleaned up without much hassle. The bottom part of the intake looks clean & throttle body was not very dirty at all. Did not see any other leaks or any bad seals / gaskets.

Just to clear this up - the oil was inside the upper intake manifold (plenum). It did not look like it was from the valve cover gaskets, as I did not see any leaks from that area. I apologize if I am misunderstanding what you are trying to say.
There was a little bit on the valve stems that I could see, but I expected that.
Test drove last night & today (on highway) with no issues so far...

I don't quite get what this is for? Could you give me some insights and help?
Thanks a lot!
