Overflow coolant tank lid leak?
Since I've owned this '06 IS350 I've noticed now twice that around the plastic "pop-off" lid of the coolant overflow tank that solidified and crusty excess pink "OEM" coolant has dibbled out around the lid. At 28k the previous owner had the water pump replaced due to a little leak, not pump failure. Should I at all be worried about this build-up? The overflow tank currently is sitting at the low-level mark when stone cold. Should the tank mark be measured when cold or hot?
How many of you have this same issue? Have you had your water pump replaced?
Thx!

It's fairly common. Here's one thread on it, I have the same "problem" but havent resolved it although I'm pretty sure people here have discussed how to fix it, but i didnt read through the whole thread haha

Thanks! Sounds normal then, which on a $30-$40k car seems really lame...but whatever. I think I'll grab some pink antifreeze when at the dealership next. Sucks that it's $25/gal, but 100k+ miles until a change? That I can live with! Actually, since the water pump was replaced at 28k I'm sure it had all new anti-freeze put in then. So I'm good for even a longer time! LOL
