And on things to worry about, only major issue I've heard about is the Nav screen going out. Cheapest fix out of warranty is $800 but that requires pulling out the Nav screen yourself and sending it out. More like a $1600 fix or something. If no Nav, no major issues.

Don't forget your dance has to be within the first 30 seconds of starting the car. To engage at any point in your drive you must always power down and restart to do what others accomplish with a simple press of a button.

I just bought a 2006 is350 here in toronto and i gotta tell you that its a great car. its definitely not sporty in terms of handling (mine doesn't have sport package and i am comparing to my old bimmer) but in terms of power, luxury and comfort you cannot beat this thing. it got a pretty powerful V6 and off the line its a beast. As some other people have mentioned, not much in terms of modifications can be done especially here in Canada. The car is extremely quiet which i don't like, so i am going to install an exhaust and intake soon . I think this is the best car if its going to be a DD. it is pretty good on gas too; i have averaged about 9.6 l/100 KM (based on gascubby app in iphone). i paid 20500 for mine with luxury package (no sport, no nav) and 80000km on it with two set of rims and tires and then i added 2k to get 4 yrs of warranty on it. i think i got a decent deal (as a matter of fact the best i could find in 4 months of searching). if you to save money you have to buy private or from a non-lexus dealership. i'm pretty the same car would have cost me north of 25 if i had to buy from lexus.hope this helps

Yup.
Carbon build up problem- applies to IS250 only, and is "fixed" (only for another couple ten thousand miles till it comes back) by the carbon buildup TSB, which is free under powertrain warranty.
Fixed (actually fixed this time) for free under regular warranty (4 yr/50k) or for $100 out of pocket, with the low-dust OEM brake pads.

I have been driving my 06 is350 for more then 4 years now ..havent had a seriously yet(knock on wood). im now at 54k miles..all i have done so far is change the front brake pads and oil change every 10k miles with synthetic. This car is great!! and I drive it everyday. The only thing i complain about is my dashboard, theres a pretty wide gap between central vent and the dash itself..annoying, but other then that..its great. Just make sure the car you buy has all the recall done already or get it done if you can. i think the recalls are the stuff you should really be worrying about.
