My used Lexus IS250 has a soft, sticky dash that scratches and mars easily.

I have the same issue but with my door panels, the previous owner stated the dash had already been replace...
I am def out of warranty but that shouldn't matter bcz their product is defective, right?

i hope so... they are pretty well known for their customer service... i have previously purchased a 07 is250 from that dealership so hopefully they will take that under consideration and take care of me... if not, it was worth a shot...

Thats absolute crap. It sounds like your dealership is a lot less interested in providing "Lexus customer service" as mine and many others were. I would call Lexus of America and complain.

the service guy at Park Place Lexus told me that he hasn't seen anything like this... but it seems to be a quality defect... so more than likely it will get replaced (crossing finger)... Lexus of America said they will get back to me withing 5 business days!!!

just got a call from Lexus and they said they denied my claim and that they would give me 100$ credit...
hmm i said NOOOOOOOOO
they will review and call me back bcz i asked them to reevaluate the claim and that it needed to be reviewed by a supervisor... i also told him that i can give him various scenarios where they have replaced these items under goodwill and that is what i needed done (he was shocked when i said that)
again, lets see what happens...
FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Just bought a 2008 IS250 and I have the same issue. Car came out of Florida and I live in Houston, so that sounds consistent with others in this thread.
When I first got the car, I noticed the dash looked a little fuzzy and scuffed, thought it just needed a good clean. After more investigation I discovered the dash was sticky and was scratched pretty badly. Just dragging your fingers over the dash, you get black dash materials under your nails.
Then, after leaving the car outside Friday, I decided to try to clean the dash. Looked online and everyone recommended a clean towel with water. Picked a dirty spot with a scratch, rubbed a little and to my horror, the towel came back black.
All the texture had rubbed off within seconds on a big swath of dash (3" by 1"). If that wasn't bad enough, it was cracking as well. I stopped immediately, found this thread and realized it was a known issue. Next day, in the morning I went out and chunks of the dash about the size of half of a grain of rice were crumbling off. Knowing I was still in warranty and the car was a Lexus, I figured this was just going to cost me time.
Booked the car into Northside Lexus here in Houston yesterday at 7:30a. They sat on the car all day and didn't look at it. Today, they finally took a look and concluded the dash had been cut and someone tried to fix it by melting rubber on it (?!). Quote to replace: $1,071.
Called 1800-25-LEXUS to get some resolution. They said they'd call the dealer and "investigate" and get back to me in five business days. Somehow, I don't have much faith they're going to come back receptive.
Honestly, I'm appalled right now that A) the dashboard on a Lexus can melt and that B) it wasn't covered by the warranty without any questions.

So there is no TSB for this issue? What is Lexus' official stance on this? Searched in the forum but couldn't find any thread regarding Lexus' official stance.
I have a 2011 IS350, should I worried about this too?
