Default Joe Z's Intake vs Oem's piping

So, I installed the Joe Z's intake today.. after taking it for a couple of runs. I decided to pop my hood. what I noticed was the joe z's piping was super HOT! so.. this makes me wonder.. does this decrease power?(sucking up cold air from the outside into the super hot piping n turned it to hot air after going thru the pipe to the throttle)

I don't mean to bash Joe but I'm just curious.. is the oem's piping better cause it can resist the heat coming from the engine? any one is welcome to voice their opinion.

just get header wrap or intake wrap

http://www.amazon.com/Temperature-He.../dp/B003RBC1AG

they have others ones with Velcro so its removable, i got mine for 30 bucks and it makes a pretty big different with the heat problem, but honestly air is a horrible conductor of heat and since there not much surface area for conduction to occur, the air is pretty much cold the entire time, beside, its 30 bucks for like .2 hp

Someone recently dyno the stock intake before and Joez intake after.

The Joez intake ended up losing HP.

the air moves through the pipe so fast that it doesn't matter if the pipe feels hot.

that and the inside of the pipe is coated in vinyl stickers for extra HP

hmm... when you think about heat off the block... wouldnt the JoeZ intake act like a heatpipe providing more surface area for heat off the manifold to dissipate? the stock plastic stays cool so its not allowing heat xfer...

sorry im not a engineering gearhead so my theory could be flawed...

Oh it matters, otherwise I wouldnt have been able to drop the temperature of my intake by over 35 degrees.

^^ .. and I can post 5 more Independent Dyno Graphs that show the gains.

So really one dyno or one thread doesn't speak for the product..

Thanks for your input though

To the OP (no offense taken), the air traveling through the intake pipe is there for a millisecond before it gets sucked through the TB.

So basically the air is NOT inside long enough to get heated up any different than the stock intake (while driving or mashing on the gas pedal).

Yes its True the intake is aluminum so the surface will get HOT..
But do you go around touching all the other metal parts in the engine bay?
(warning please don't)

The air intake suction can literally rip your arm off...

This intake was R&D'd, proven and released back in Spring of 2006..

** Well before the F-Sport Intake was even on the drawing board.

Also, you can search and pull lots and lots of threads..

But this thread from May 2006 covers your direct question:

Joe Z Intake concerns...

Best Regards,

Joe Z
