The only thing I haven't liked about the Vaistech SLI kit I have (got it in 2007) is that analog coaxial audio connection. I know there is a difference in audio quality when listening to music off of an MP3 CD vs listening to music off of my iPod as a result (at least I assume that is the reason). It's also a little frustrating that it doesn't pause my music when I turn off the car and start where it left off when I start it up again. Other than that, it's been fine.
Does this new Vais unit have the same hardware limitation? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first party Lexus/Toyota iPod integration kit uses an all-digital connection:

I'm not sure if this one would work on my 2007 IS, though.
EDIT: Ah crap, so it's not backwards compatible with older gen iPods? Weak... guess I'll either have to update or skip this product. Still curious about the above questions, though.

Amplifier input is Digital only on ML vehicles and only for DVD. This statement only valid for 2006-2009 Lexus vehicles. CD/SAT input on all 2006-2009 US Lexus vehicles always been analog!
Even on 2010 Lexus factory USB input adapter use analog connection. Factory iPod to USB interface adapter is "Digital", but USB interface adapter connection to amplifier is analog. So it is partially "digital", but last connection (analog to amplifier) not even balanced analog audio.

Hmmm. I was hoping the SL2iC would have a digital connection. I've heard tons of reviews which say that the VML sounds much better than the analog Vais products on an ML sound system.
I may have to go for ML Plus. Haven't seen much on that though - screenshots, etc.

If so, when can I place an order for it?
Thank you
